We are now going to take a look at yearly net tropical activity from 1851 to 2005. This data is conceived by the same parameters and calculations used by Dr. William Gray and his team at Colorado State University. That is the Net Tropical Activity=(((Number Of Named Storms/Avg Number of Named Storms)+(Number of Storm Days/Avg Number of Storm Days) +(Number of Hurricanes/Avg Number Of Hurricanes) + (Number of Major Hurricanes/Avg Number Of Major Hurricanes) + (Number Of Major Hurricane Days/Avg Number Of Major Hurricane Days))/6)*100
The averages used in the above equation is based on average numbers of storms, storm days, hurricanes, hurricane days, major hurricanes, and major hurricane days over an 154 year period (1851-2005). Hurricaneville has compiled data and constructed a database of all the storms and hurricanes from 1851 to 2005. Note: Going through some of this information, as well as Dr. Gray's Information, you will notice some disparities. I believe that this is a result from the data collected for this database, and the definitions of what is a named storm day, hurricane day, and intense, or major hurricane day.
| Year | Named Storms | Named Storm Days | Hurricanes | Hurricane Days | Major Hurricanes | Major Hurricane Days | Net Tropical Activity |
