Thunderstorm--September 8, 2012
Here is a collection of photos taken of severe thunderstorms moving through the Raritan Center portion of Edison, New Jersey in early September 2012. This thunderstorm was part of a line of severe thunderstorms associated with a powerful cold front that ushered in cooler drier air to the Northeast, which had been very humid during the course of the week. There was only about 0.25 inches of rain in South Plainfield from the storm, but high winds knocked down trees in Montville and Chester in Morris County as well as Clinton in Hunterdon County. Earlier in the day, an EF0 tornado touched down in Breezy Point section of Queens and the Carnarsie section of Brooklyn in New York City.
